The Nairi Ensemble is the result of 15 years??™ musical experience shared between a conductor and a closely knit group of passionate musicians. Throughout his career as a violinist and conductor, Haik Davtian has sought to bring the music of Armenia and Georgia to new audiences. The musicians, graduates of leading French conservatoires, have been with the Ensemble since it was formed and its artistic coherence is underpinned by their deep, individual commitment. The group??™s versatile, flexible format features a core of around twenty string instrumentalists to which can be added all the other instruments of a symphony orchestra, enabling a broader repertoire to be covered. Gradually, a desire to build up a repertoire combining the great classical composers with traditional aucasian folk music has evolved. The fruit of this long, artistically rich collaboration can be found in the Nairi Ensemble??™s spirited, authentic interpretation of these repertoires. The Nairi Ensemble received the committee??™s commendation at the ???Annee de l??™Armenie en France??? (2006-2007).
